Willem Hofstee is emeritus professor Psychology of at the University of Groningen. His specializations are personality theories, selection and diagnostics, methodology, and history of psychology. His promotors were Ben J. Kouwer and Jan Th. Snijders. He is a member of the Royal Dutch Academy of Science (KNAW), served as chairman of the Dutch Institute for Psychologists, and chairman of ADNG. He was also chair of a committee instigated by the National Bureau of Anti-racism (Landelijk Bureau Racismebestrijding) to investigate whether and how much the use of psychological tests was disadvantageous for immigrant applicants. Central in his work is an “existential approach of the personality combined with advanced psychometrics.”
